From January 26th - 28th, Oxfam Great Britain will be hosting a Regional Livelihoods and Disaster Risk Reduction Workshop in Montego Bay, Jamica.
Representatives from academia, UN agencies, NGOs and, local and regional organizations, including ECTAD/CaFAN, will gather to discuss problems and exchange best practice knowledge for Disaster Risk Reduction in small-scale agriculture. Ms. Renortha Penny of Grenada will be representing ECTAD/CaFAN during this three-day engagement.
Yesterday afternoon, ECTAD/CaFAN held a meeting with farmers in the Vermont area of Saint Vincent. Nearly fifty participants attended the session, in which production and ECTAD's production planning programme were the centre focus.
We have six additional regional workshops being held throughout the island, scheduled for the first two weeks of January. The Production Planning Program will, again, be discussed, as it applies to each area. Our focus crops include: Dasheen, Sweet Potato, Eddoes, Casava, Plantain, Ginger and Yam.
